How to Check Immigration BAN in UAE?
If you have been living in the UAE for a long time, you probably already have your ID and have complied with the necessary protocols to settle in this region and become a citizen.
You probably also know that the government of this country through different governmental entities has the power to impose fines to any person who carries out an action that violates the laws that are under its domain or constituency.
One of them is the Immigration Department, which is responsible for ensuring that all foreigners arriving in the country comply with the protocols and rules established to allow their entry and authorize their stay for the time indicated on their visa.
However, it is likely that at some point the person has committed an offense that has forced the immigration department to apply a ban to prevent it from leaving the country until the situation is resolved.
If this is your case and you don't know what to do to check the immigration ban in the UAE, don't worry; in this post we will tell you how to do it.
What are the reasons for immigration bans in UAE?
When it comes to bans within the UAE, these can be applied for various reasons, the most common being:
- Breaking any of the immigration laws
- Criminal prosecution
- Exceeding the length of stay established on the visa
- Exercising an employment activity without having a visa to do so
- Evading financial commitments acquired within the country
- Notifying employer and revoking work permit before leaving the country
- Rent related problems
- Worldwide epidemic of a specific disease
Types of prohibitions applied in the UAE
Within the UAE there are three types of bans:
- The work ban which can have a duration of six months to one year. This will be requested by the employer to be applied on the employee in case it has not completed its period of service. Once this happens, the person will not be able to apply for a work visa within the duration of the ban.
- The permanent ban which applies to those persons who are involved in criminal offenses.
- The immigration ban where the person who has been sanctioned with the ban will not be able to leave or enter the country.
Methods to check the ban applied in the UAE
Within the UAE there are three ways to check a ban:
- Going to any police station in Dubai.
- Contacting an operator through a phone call
- Checking on the Dubai Police app
The following numbers are available: 800-5111 corresponding to the Dubai Amer Center which you can call free of charge if you are a resident, while if you are calling from abroad, you should call the following number: +971-4-313-9999.
To check if you have an immigration ban applied in the UAE using this app do the following:
Download the Dubai Police app on your iOS or Android smartphone.
Then click on the app to open its interface.
Next, click on the Individual Services option and then click on the Criminal status of financial cases option.
Once inside the app, the next thing you will do is enter your full name along with your Emirates ID number.
After you have clicked the button for the site to process this data, a message will be displayed on the screen indicating whether or not there is a ban associated with your ID number.
You will also receive a message telling you to go to the nearest Dubai Police Station and bring your ID along with a copy of your passport.
In the case of Abu Dhabi residents who have a ban, they can visit the Abu Dhabi website and enter the judicial department page where they will then have to enter their unified number followed by the verification code.
Recently, the Dubai Public Prosecutor's Office has implemented a service called Smart payment of fines, with which people who have been criminally sanctioned will have the facility to pay the fines and get the ban issued by the UAE annulled by the court in charge.
Thus, with this new method, the process of execution of the sentences is more agile. It should be noted that this is part of a government initiative called «360 Services» that aims to produce a marked improvement in public services.
How the smart fine payment system works
In case the prohibition imposed by the UAE requires the payment of a specific fee to be cancelled, the person will have three options within the smart payment system:
Wait to receive a link sent by the prosecutor's office via SMS so that when you click on it you will be taken to a page where you will have to log in by entering your digital ID and then proceed to make the payment online.
Use a payment device designed to accept both cash and electronic payments. A special feature of this device is that it accepts one denomination of each cash bill for each attempt until the entire fine is covered.
Access the Prosecutor's Office website by logging in with your digital ID and then clicking on the option to make the payment.
After payment of the fine you will have to wait for the Dubai Public Prosecutor's Office to send you an SMS confirming the receipt of the fine, as well as the immediate lifting of the immigration ban on the UAE.
